How ZenKey Works

Your carrier has a unique ability to identify and protect your mobile Identity. ZenKey uses this ability to convert your wireless carrier’s network into a secure conduit between you and your favorite apps and websites. This results in an easier and more secure way for you to create, log into and use your accounts.

  • Initial Setup

During the ZenKey setup process, the link between you, your phone and your carrier is verified, and your carrier is notified of registration. To activate the main features of ZenKey, you must first connect it to a third-party app or website, which may require entering a securely stored PIN for added security.

  • Registration

ZenKey only works with third-party apps and websites that have signed up to use ZenKey. Your wireless carrier passes along the information that you choose to share, allowing you to create accounts quickly and more securely—while keeping your data private.

When you tap the green ZenKey button on the login screen of a participating third-party app or website, a confirmation request is sent to your wireless carrier to verify your device and check for suspicious activity. Your carrier confirms that you have consented to the use of the requesting app or website and sends validation to the app or website, automatically logging you in.

  • Confirmation

For transactions that require authentication—like purchases or bank transfers—your wireless carrier first confirms that you have given consent for ZenKey to authorize the third-party app or website making the request. It then asks you to confirm the transaction. Simply tap the screen to confirm it’s you, and complete your transaction.
